Baking Roulette

I love baking but I always seem to be baking the same things, I suppose it's the fear of venturing out from my comfort zone and making something that takes horrid or gets burnt or undercooked or just a general disaster. So, to try and break this constant chain of baking what I know I've come up with an idea.
I've got quite a few cooking books, so what I'm going to do is number them, then I'm going to get someone to pick a random number, then get them to pick a high random number and whatever the second number is I will go to that page of the book and cook whatever is in there. If the number exceeds the number of pages, I am going to get to the end of the book then start again i.e. if it has 200 pages and the number is 384, I will go to page 184. I'm going to pick on the 1st day of the month then make them the next coming weekend. This gives me time to buy the necessary ingredients and because I finish late in an evening so I don't have time then.
I thought this would be a fun way to get me to try making new things, though I will try and stick to the recipe I may have a tendency to change things around, like change the fruit if there's fruit in it, that kind of thing.
The best part is that I'm not going to just be making cake, which is the main bulk of my comfort zone, it will be anything such as pies and the dreaded biscuit! Dun dun duuuuun! I'm not the best at making biscuits, the only recipe I have been able to do and he biscuits turn out some what good are rolled sugar cookies. They needed a bit more sugar so I've had to modify the recipe but I've never been the best at biscuits but that's what all this is about.

I will start on 1st June, which is the upcoming Saturday which is also my best friend's 21st birthday, but unfortunately for her she wont be getting any of them as my mum is coming down to my house as we are doing Cancer Research's Race For Life together and I may also be having my new kitchen put in, so even though the 1st day of the next month is on a weekend, I may have to wait until the week after to actually do anything.
 I can't wait to start this as it will be fun for me to improve my baking skills by not sticking to what I know and I get to share with you some of my latest creations and so you can give them a try yourself =) I'll probably also post a Youtube video of all the ones I do if you want to check that out as well.
